Applications .
Digital PCR enables the direct determination of the absolute copy number of DNA or RNA targets without a standard curve. This means that even small differences in the target molecule concentration can be reliably measured.
By dividing the sample into thousands of partitions, rare genetic variants can be detected with high sensitivity, even if they are only present in a very small proportion of the DNA.
DPCR allows precise determination of gene copy numbers and is therefore ideal for analyzing gene amplifications or deletions in genetic studies and oncology.
The high sensitivity of the method enables the detection of circulating DNA, e.g. tumor-associated mutations in blood samples, and thus supports minimally invasive diagnostic and monitoring approaches.
Viral or bacterial nucleic acids can be detected very sensitively and quantitatively – even with low target concentrations or complex sample matrices.
After a reverse transcription reaction, RNA can be quantified precisely and absolutely, which is particularly advantageous for low expression or small sample quantities.
Results from next-generation sequencing (NGS) can be reliably confirmed and quantitatively verified with dPCR.
DPCR is suitable for the quantitative determination of genetic markers, for example for the detection of GMOs or specific microorganisms in complex samples.
